My mother is in the market for a new SUV. We are considering multiple options but she is leaning domestic full size. She is very techy and that is a big priority for her as is a third row. I was wondering if anyone here knew if the tech on 15 Tahoe was sufficiently better than a 14 Escalade?

LC200? I know it’s not domestic but....
Also, the mylink system is a pretty big upgrade over the previous system, so yes the tech should be better. That said, I’d get one new enough that it gets the 8-speed.

If shes into tech then I’d say Tahoe. I don’t think they offered apple car play or android auto before the GMK2XX

I don’t think the 2015 Taho had Android Auto or Apple car play yet. The basic Chevy MyLink system is great, though. It’s uglier than Chrysler’s UConnect, but connects via Bluetooth instantly. Very easy to use. The interiors of the 2015 trucks are vastly improved over the previous generation but that gap is less between a 2014 caddy vs a 2015 Chevy
The biggest change in these trucks 2014 vs 2015 is that the 3rd row folds “flat” in 2015 and cannot be removed. If your mom rarely uses the 3rd row, she would likely remove the seats and keep them in the garage with the 14. My buddy does this. He drives around in a 4 seat Tahoe. The disadvantage of the folding seat on the 15 is the liftover hight for placing cargo in the trunk. It’s 6" higher. And the total distance floor to ceiling is squished. Otherwise, it’s super convenient if you often transition between hauling people or stuff. Just push a buttton.
The 2015 trucks get grill shutters and other eco tricks to boost economy. Our 2017 Tahoe averaged 26 mpg on a recent road trip. Typical in town mileage is not truly awful at 17 mpg

Made in ‘Murrica.
Versatile seating with lots of cargo room behind 3rd row.
High tech.

FWD and a laughable (if any) tow rating. We haul 5k or more sometimes so towing is essential.

I am surprised the gas is so good. She would like a third row that folds flat. I know the Cadillac’s does not but I am curious to see if it flips up like this:

She is weird about how old it is and a LC200 in her price range tends to be a 12 or older in our area which she is against

Looks like it wasn’t on the 2015 for some weird reason

Gotcha. Well I’d really shoot for a K2XX Escalade if you can swing it. 8L90 and CUE, along with safety tech, might convince her to pay a little more. Plus huge jump in interior quality.

2015-17 tahoe with 2nd and 3rd row seats folded. Cargo sits on top of folded seat backs. The 2nd row can also flip forward like your photo (not shown).
Here’s the 2014 escalade with 3rd row seats folded, but not removed.
So if the 3rd row is going to be a very rarely used option, having the ability to remove the seats maximizes cargo capacity with a significant impact to convenience. Those damn seats are heavy and awkward to remove and install.

I see, so you are apparently one of the mythical “BUT I NEED TO TOW THINGS” families that buys a full-size SUV to use as a minivan.

The infotainment in both essentially sucks. Plus the liftover height for the cargo area is similarly atrocious.
Sequoia (admittedly not domestic), Expedition EL, or Navigator L if you’re going 3-row BOF.

In your image the 3rd row looks removed and 2nd row is folded up. If you want a flat floor you need an Expedition or Navigator.

Well we own a 16ft trailer and also have a boat with a trailer we haul to Florida. So yes we are unicorns that actually tow things with our SUV

We are looking at the Navigator too
